HOPING FOR HOPE
Flipping through old issues of Matanglawin, one of Ateneo's student publications, I came across a cool artwork by a freshman. I asked my editor, Pol, if that freshman was still around. He said no. "He (the freshman) didn't re-apply this year." "Why?" I asked. Pol replied, "He's not around Ateneo anymore. His family can't pay for his tuition for his sophomore year."It's a really sad situation and that's the second person I know that stopped their education due to financial constraints. The first one is a close friend of mine. He's doing fine now, working part-time.
Education should be a right, not a privilege.

TITA NITZ: AdMU's RESIDENT CATWOMAN
For the past few days, e-mails (and rumors, I'm guessing) have circulated around Ateneo that all cats within campus grounds will be exterminated tomorrow using "BB guns" and "drowning" since there was a incident that a student was bitten by a cat. For both those cats' and Tita Nitz' sake , I hope that's just a sick rumor. If not, somebody call PETA!
